TOUR DESCRIPTIONS

Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge. Birdwatchers and nature lovers, this is the tour for you. It is considered one of the richest sites in the continents for the observation of birds. Among the many birds usually present in the winter are: Glossy Ibis, Black-necked Stilt, Anhinga, American Widgeon, Northern Shoveler, Wood Stork, White Ibis, Black-bellied Whistling-Duck, Snail Kite, Green Backed Heron, and Blue-winged Teal. This is one of the best places to see the Nicaraguan Grackle, whose only Costa Rican habitat is Cano Negro and other marshy areas just south of Lake Nicaragua. It is also a refuge of many other animals like : sloths, caimans, lizards, tropical birds, various species of monkeys and there is much more in the surrounding lush rainforest and wetlands. The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge and the Rio Frio are biological humid areas considered to be one of the richest in biological diversity in Costa Rica. The reserve is remarkable, also, for its healthy population of endangered mammals species, including jaguars, cougars, tapirs, ocelots and tayras.

Arenal Volcano at night. This is a tour you will never forget. At mid-afternoon we’ll start our way to the active side of the Arenal Volcano to observe the tumbling lava rocks and spewing gases. As the evening approaches and your sense of hearing heightens, the hike takes you on a surreal trail and you will see wildlife and hear the amazing sounds of the volcano in the distance.

White Water Rafting. For a variety of reasons the Pacuare River is one of the best choices for your adventure treks in Costa Rica. Another trip in the country does not exist that offers you a perfect blend of wilderness exposure and excitement, both in one day.

The Pacuare river is world famous for its sheer beauty. A true river gorge, it is flanked by steep, green walls. Here you enjoy the feeling of total isolation from urban life and the realness of being connected with nature. You see waterfalls cascade into the river from both sides as colorful, tropical birds fly right over your head. Amazing views of this virgin tropical rainforest area, appear before your eyes as you descend this true exploratory land.

Wildlife is abundant, with sloth, toucans, parrots, coatis, morpho butterflies and colorful frogs being common sights. Our guides are experts at finding them and you will be the benefactors of their knowledge and expertise. Other inhabitants of this jungle include monkeys, jaguars, peccaries and tapirs, but these animals generally stay more hidden.

The Pacuare River has white water that is equal to its natural beauty and abundant wildlife. It is not an overly challenging river, but it has a lot rapids, therefore giving you an adventure filled with lots of fun. The 18 mile one day run includes a total of 38 rapids. Few rivers in the world can offer you so many rapids in such a short stretch of river.
